Privacy policy

Last updated 2 November 2026.

Hallway is operated by Kaine Ventures LLC. This policy covers the Hallway website and the Hallway iOS app.

The short version

  • Hallway has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and does not track you across other apps or websites.
  • Your history, likes, Watch later list, playlists, what you follow and your settings stay on your device. We never receive them.
  • Videos play in YouTube's embedded player, so Google receives data when you watch. Google's privacy policy covers that.

What stays on your device

On the website, your library is kept in your browser's local storage. In the app, it is kept in the app's own storage, which the app's widgets can read. None of it is sent to us. If you export your library, the file goes wherever you save it. To delete it, clear the site's data in your browser, or delete the app.

The app adds the videos to your device's Spotlight search, and its widgets, Siri shortcuts and notifications about new videos in what you follow run on your device. Apple handles those features under its own privacy policy.

What reaches our servers

The website is hosted by Vercel. When you load a page, search the website or when the app downloads catalog updates, the request carries your IP address, browser or device details and the address requested, including search words on the website. We use these only to answer the request. Our hosting provider keeps standard request logs for a short time for security and operations. We do not combine them with anything else or use them to identify you.

In the app, search runs on your device and is not sent to us.

YouTube

Hallway uses YouTube API Services. Videos play in YouTube's embedded player, and video thumbnails and channel images load from YouTube's servers. When they load, Google receives your IP address and device details, and the player may store cookies or similar data on your device. The player runs in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode. Hallway does not ask for access to your YouTube or Google account and cannot see what you watch on YouTube.

By watching videos in Hallway you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's use of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.

Hacker News, Lobsters, Reddit and Stack Exchange

Hallway shows short excerpts of public comments, stories and answers that recommended each video, with the public usernames those sites show. Opening one takes you to that site, where its own privacy policy applies.

Children

Hallway is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices and contact

Because your library never leaves your device and Hallway has no analytics, we hold nothing we could tie to you to export or delete. If you have a question or a request about your data, email privacy@hallway.video.

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. For help with Hallway, see Support.
