Common questions

A video will not play.

Some uploaders do not allow their videos to play outside YouTube, and some videos are removed or made private after they were recommended. Use Open on YouTube from the video's menu. The weekly catalog update drops videos that can no longer be embedded.

Why does the video stop when I leave the app?

YouTube's rules for apps that use its player do not allow playback in the background or in picture in picture. Inside the app, minimize the video and it keeps playing while you browse.

How do I move my library between the website and the app?

Open You and choose Export library, then choose Import library on the other device or on the website. It works in both directions, and importing merges with what is already there.

How does a video get into Hallway?

Engineers recommend it on Hacker News, Lobsters, Reddit or Stack Overflow, or a listed conference or university channel publishes it. The full rule is on How videos get in.
