On “Switching to a Scala position soon, where should I start?”

You might want to check out this free crash course. Full disclosure: it's mine.

I know you are asking about a book but you are a perfect target audience for this crash course link to this video Full disclosure: it's mine. There are many great Scala books and Programming in Scala is the one I started with as well.

I think a crash course is all you need. I made one a year ago link to this video

On “Should I learn it? If yes then which?”

I'm sure you will like Scala. Scala 3 has many syntactic goodies, but as many pointed out it's not a huge difference. Btw I have a free crash course that covers both (mostly Scala2) that will get you up-to-speed link to this video and also a Scala-focused FP crash course as well link to this video I hope it helps!

On “Starting with Scala”

If you already know any other programming language my free crash course should get you pretty far link to this video If you have never programmed before I have a free course as well. It's not the shortest one though and also I didn't make it pragmatic on purpose so maybe a "proper" course would be better. I think Daniel from RockTheJVM has one but I'm not sure. link to this video

On “Which tutorial to learn functional programming without going in depth ?”

That post ended up quite longer than I expected lol. TLDR: \- just use Scala however you like, imperative programming isn't forbidden. \- Follow [video or [video for example and just go out there and try to solve the problems you want to solve with Scala.
