An introduction to higher-order functions in Scala, focusing on functions that take other functions as inputs.
Full course available at fp-tower.com/courses/foundations This video is an extract from Foundations of Functional Programming in Scala. Today we are going to focus on functions that take other functions as inputs. The fancy name for this pattern is a "higher-order function", but if you think about it, it is a straight application of what we saw in the Val vs Def lecture youtu.be/mqJ1W6w5ZZM. Since Val functions are ordinary Scala objects, we can use them in the same way we would use a simple Int or String. I would like to thank the translators for their fantastic work: • French thanks to Xavier Van de Woestyne • Italian thanks to Francesco Serra • Japanese thanks to Yoshimasa Tanabe and Atsumine Kondo • Russian thanks to Nikita Shestakov and Anton Parkhomenko • Spanish thanks to Alejandro Marin /* ----- SOCIAL MEDIA ----- */ Follow Me On Social Media At: twitter.com/JulienTruffaut linkedin.com/in/julientruffaut/ patreon.com/julien_truffaut Video produced by Future Sun futuresunfilms.com/ #Scala #functionalprogrammingWhy it's here
