Delaney Gillilan introduces Datastar, a real-time hypermedia framework designed to challenge modern SPA bloat.

Building visualizations, dashboards, browser games and content, comes with a huge set of challenges. I build a lot of these things and the challenges are anything but solved. It's not like I'm even looking at the challenges through the eyes of youth. I'm a fledgling grey beard and have seen the industry grow and bloat over the last few decades. No combination of Next, React or new trendy framework is going to solve them and so when HTMX and Alpine made their advances, I fell in love almost immediately. A world heading back to the centrality of Hypermedia is a world I can love again! After a short amount of time, cracks started to appear, and after many ~~debates~~, ~~arguments~~, discussions with the HTMX team, I explored my own approach and eventually it became worthy of its own name, Datastar. It started out as a framework for making plugins for Hypermedia, and today, straight out of the box, it supports all the tooling for making real-time apps in Hypermedia. I promise not to send you to sleep and will show you the approach, how to create the much loved hello world equivalent, a real-time chat app, and the grand finale, a project that is set to change the face of developer education; a 3D city, controlled completely with Hypermedia. You'll see how simple it is, with performance that will remove your eyebrows. From UtahJS Conf on September 13, 2024 in Sandy, Utah www.utahjs.com

On “How do you enjoy using React as a .NET dev in full stack roles?”

https://data-star.dev/ The first link is the main website. You can find the official sdk for csharp there, but I use the Falco one because I'm using Falco.Markup for my html templating, and it's absolutely killer. https://github.com/falcoframework/Falco.Datastar You should check out the creator Delaney Gillilan's talks about it on YouTube, link to this video he has a crazy demo at utahjs doing real time hypermedia at 144fps. link to this video and also things like Anders Murphy 's tech demos of it. He has a real time billion checkboxes demo that is running on a basic their server.. No sweat. https://share.google/RGrHRFzcIj7gC1MLG

On “Announcing Topcoat: a framework for building full-stack reactive web apps”

…s if that's what you mean by effects. > I also don't know about its ability to have the shared reactive state I don't know if this is the sort of thing you are talking about, but this is one of the first demos the creator of datastar did before the project gained any sort of following. It has changed a lot since then, but mainly for the better. link to this video Also here is a current example of what an excel spreadsheet page looks like using datastart with full page re-renders link to this video Again not trying to say you are wrong or anything. Just trying to show you what the current state of hypermedia (datastar) is like just in case you weren't aware.…
