Stuart Halloway introduces Datomic Ions, explaining how they allow developers to deploy Clojure code directly into Datomic Cloud.
Datomic Ions (goo.gl/XcEQNh) let you develop applications for the cloud by deploying your code to a running Datomic Cloud system. You can focus on your application logic, writing ordinary Clojure functions, and the ion tooling and infrastructure handles the deployment and execution details. You can leverage your code both inside Datomic transactions and queries, and from the world at large via built-in support for AWS Lambda. I was confused at first about the lambdas. I thought the tool would deploy clojure programs as aws lambdas, so you would not have the huge advantage of data-locality there.
But no, the lambdas are just proxies to call your functions that do run on the datomic cluster instances link to this video
This is seriously awesome.
