  • An opinion. It argues one side of a question engineers disagree on.

Beginner. No background in the topic needed.

An exploration of how Rust is positioning itself to replace C as the universal language for all devices and platforms.

THE 70s MUST HAVE BEEN A WILD TIME TO BE ALIVE, right? 👉Get Rust training from Let’s Get Rusty: letsgetrusty.com/begin-with-tris I often daydream about the lives of people who picked up C just at this perfect time, right at the start. After they learned this relatively small language, they could then have spent DECADES writing JUST C, one language for all programs, on all devices. I wonder if you can see where I'm going with this? ❤️ If you would like to support what I do, I have set up a patreon here: patreon.com/noboilerplate - Thank you! 📄 All my videos are built in compile-checked markdown, transcript sourcecode available here github.com/0atman/noboilerplate this is also where you'll find links to everything mentioned. 🖊️ Corrections are in the pinned ERRATA comment. 👕 Bad shirts available here noboilerplate.dashery.com/ 🦀 Start your Rust journey here: youtube.com/watch?v=2hXNd6x9sZs 🙏🏻 CREDITS & PROMO My name is Tris Oaten and I produce fast, technical videos. On “What is something in Rust that makes someone go: "Woah"?”

Minute 3:13 explains what I most like in Rust: Rust is the new C Basically, it can run anywhere, absolutely anywhere. I know C can also do it, but it’s also one of few languages that can do it. (And I’m not talking about”anywhere” like JS. If so, I can run PHP on Android, but doesn’t mean it’s good hahaha)
