Ian VanSchooten demonstrates how the satisfies operator introduced in TypeScript 4.9 benefits Storybook development and type inference.

TypeScript introduced a super useful operator in 4.9 with the `satisfies` keyword. This talk shows an example of how storybook development can really benefit from this new keyword for standard storybook objects and types. Some tools still need to catch up, but the community is moving quickly to adopt this useful feature. TypeScript's release process caveat for tooling like prettier or eslint the storybook example the use-case prior to TypeScript 4.9 where inferencing fails you introducing the satisfies operator audience question: can you use it recursively? audience question: what kinds of tools need to catch up? TypeScript's next release candidate Ian VanSchooten (github.com/IanVS) is the lead frontend developer at Defined Networking (defined.net) and helps to maintain the vite builder for Storybook and a few other open source projects. When he isn't coding, he's probably hanging out with his family, renovating his house, or taking care of his ducks and bees. On “Announcing TypeScript 4.9”

Exciting stuff! I'm most excited for the property narrowing with the \`in\` operator because it's such a quality-of-life improvement. On that note, though, Michigan TypeScript developers has videos on some other of the new features in 4.9 as well: * TypeScript satisfies operator in Storybook * TypeScript 4.9 Checks for Equality on NaN * TypeScript's satisfies operator: Intro to 4.9's new feature
