A teardown and exploration of the rare, cancelled Panasonic 3DO M2 engineering sample console.
The 3DO M2 prototype console is real, it exists, and we are going to open it up! SUPPORT THE CHANNEL : patreon.com/VideoGameEsoterica Patreon Thanks : Seth Peterson, Tim Hugall, John Thompson, Paul Daniel, Porch, Jon Anderson, RayceARoni, Tyler Ohlew, Kuranghi, Jason Hixon, Sam Matthews, Alex Tessler, Jonathan Leung, Martin Donlon, Tom Van Deusen, Bob Maladroit, Steve Randall, Bagofsunchips, shotgunl, Andrew Bunch, K-2, Crassus0, Eric Walklet and J Z Well what do we have here?! The 3DO M2 is famously known for being a cancelled console from Panasonic after it was purchased from the 3DO Company. Yet not many people know that A) it was released as arcade hardware and kiosk hardware and B) that the console itself was 100% finished and ready to ship before it's cancellation. It was a retro gaming failure if there ever was one! This is the Panasonic FZ-21 ES4 or Engineering Sample. It's the last step to validate the hardware and make any changes before it was put into production. Sadly right now it's not functioning as it has no bios...but we will be working on fixing that! Retrogaming resurrection?! But it's a one of a kind item and a great piece of gaming history! Questions? Comments? Just leave them below and I will do my best to answer each and every one of them!
