Andrey Breslav demonstrates how to write idiomatic Kotlin code and leverage its most powerful features.

Kotlin is similar to the Java programming language, so it's natural that your Kotlin code looks very much like Java code when you are first start to use the language. While this is fine to begin with, you're probably not taking full advantage of all the language benefits. In this session, the lead Kotlin language designer will show you how you can write more idiomatic Kotlin, what the benefits are, and help you discover some of the most powerful yet lesser known features of Kotlin. What people say. Recommended as an excellent guide for writing idiomatic Kotlin rather than just translating Java code.

On “Just discovered this language, it looks fantastic, but are there any resources to learn it properly ?”

…ar with IntelliJ, you might also want to check out this quick guide: https://kotlinlang.org/docs/tutorials/getting-started.html. Most Kotlin projects will be using Gradle, but you can learn the basics of that later. I also liked the introduction videos from this and last year's Google IO, which show some common code patterns and things to avoid. link to this video link to this video If you want to try building something practical, maybe check out this Javalin web mini-framework tutorial https://javalin.io/tutorials/gradle-setup, and this one https://javalin.io/tutorials/simple-kotlin-example (just ignore the Maven part).…
