Peter Shor recounts his personal journey and the mathematical breakthroughs that led to the discovery of his famous quantum factoring algorithm.
Hear the story of Shor's Algorithm, straight from the source, Peter Shor. Though Shor’s Algorithm is widely known, the story of how it was discovered isn’t. Speaking from MIT at the 40th Anniversary of the Physics of Computation Conference, Peter Shor recounts his journey from young mathematician to Ph.D student, and how he devised one of the most famous algorithms in quantum computing, Shor's Algorithm. #QuantumComputing #ShorsAlgorithm #QiskitWhy it's here

On “Shor, I’ll do it (2007)”
I don't fully understand all the details, but even I can tell that this algorithm is beautiful. Mixing together the concepts of modular sequences, periods, and Fourier transforms, plus doing this fast with computers that barely exist in order to find factors or numbers is just an amazing construction. There's a video featuring Peter Shor about the invention of this algorithm: link to this video

link to this video > Hear the story of Shor's Algorithm, straight from the source, Peter Shor. Shor's part of the story starts in '81. Though, I generally agree with the it is hard to make predictions that far out. We've got the math to do some higher things, but we still don't have flying cars and fusion power.
