On “Mastering Emacs: What's new in Emacs 29.1”

…er 5 hours of following it, you kinda get feature parity between his config and this; but in Berock's case it's done more natively which is really, really neat. I only miss some basic config with general.el. I feel super lucky to have started in Emacs when they finally added LSP and Treesitter support, and with System Crafters' help and yours! 0 link to this video…

On “Why Emacs: Redux”

The Emacs From Scratch series on Youtube is actually quite good. He does have all his config in a Github repository if you need to copy/paste. This is the first video: link to this video

On “Beautifying Org Mode in Emacs (2018)”

Go through emacs from scratch: link to this video Try using that config 25% of your work/productive time for 1 month. Then if you are annoyed by how much time it takes try using doomemacs for the same 25% time. At the end of this you'll know if/which emacs approach is for you.

I understand some conceptual things, like buffers/windows/frames, kill ring, etc., but I don't really know how to start integrating Emacs into my workflow. I come from VS Code and other IDEs like it. I began by skimming over this tutorial and these papers (1 and 2); however, when I try and use some of the macros they don't seem to work. For instance, if I try and use C-h r, Emacs reports "C…

How to fix following Error error: Package ‘use-package-’ is unavailable ? So I am following this tutorial [video and I have been receiving the error mentioned in the title. I tried searching it up to see if I could find any solutions and the only thing I could find suggested that I run the following command `M-x package-refresh-contents` which gave me a new error `Failed to download 'elpa' archive` I tried looking this error up online but I couldn't find a clear solution. This is the config I am using (setq inhibit-startup-message t) (tooltip-mode -1) ; relegate tooltips to echo area only (menu-bar-mode -1) ; disable the menu bar (if (fbo…

On “Which Linux IDE recommended.”

There's some pretty nice and recent "Emacs From Scratch" series on YouTube that might give you some ideas. I'd greatly recommend watching it.
