Zubi Arfan teaches a comprehensive, thirteen-hour beginner course covering Rust fundamentals, ownership, traits, and standard library types.

In this comprehensive Rust course for beginners, you will learn about the core concepts of the language and underlying mechanisms in theory. ✏️ Course developed by @zubiarfan 🔗 Rust by Practice: practice.rs/ 🔗 Code: github.com/3rfaan/courses/tree/main/Rust/rust-by-practice/sr… ⭐️ Contents ⭐️ Introduction & Learning Resources Variables Numbers & Binary System Chars, Bools & Unit Types Statements & Expressions Functions Ownership Borrowing String vs. &str Slices Tuples Structs Enums The "Option" Enum Flow Control Pattern Match Methods & Associated Functions Generics Traits Trait Objects Associated Types String Vectors HashMaps Type Coercion From & Into panic! Result Cargo, Crates & Modules Debug & Display Lifetimes Lifetime Elision Closures Iterators Correction: Because of the `move` keyword the closure actually takes ownership of the `movable` variable, not an immutable reference. The reason we can call the closure twice is because the `movable` variable INSIDE the closure is the owner of the data. Meaning we can call the closure any number of times. 🎉 Thanks to our Champion and Sponsor supporters: 👾 davthecoder 👾 jedi-or-sith 👾 南宮千影 👾 Agustín Kussrow 👾 Nattira Maneerat 👾 Heather Wcislo 👾 Serhiy Kalinets 👾 Justin Hual 👾 Otis Morgan -- Learn to code for free and get a developer job: freecodecamp.org Read hundreds of articles on programming: freecodecamp.org/news ❤️ Support for this channel comes from our friends at Scrimba – the coding platform that's reinvented interactive learning: scrimba.com/freecodecamp

If it helps, this youtube video (13 hrs) immensely helped me digest some chapters of the book. I tried going thru the book twice but things became easier after watching. For practice, i used rustlings and project euler link to this video

On “Why rust ?”

I think that's how I should approach it now. I'll read this and learn the language. Currently I was learning from a freecodecamp course on rust. Guy is covering topics but It's not that detailed. I think once I finish it I'll move up to learning from the book

On “How do/should I review a book that's almost entirely in Rust when I have next to zero knowledge in Rust?”

Have you tried the Rust Programming Language Book before? Besides that, I usually prefer watching tutorials when I wanna learn something new. I personally loved this one by freeCodeCamp

On “Does Compiled Typescript Incur A Small Performance Hit During Runtime?”

For raw performance always make sure to stay away for typescript. I am talking about these niche situations were every ms counts as for example with stock trading firms. I saw this video course the other day on free code camp where the execution time of typescript is like ~7x slower. execution time table @3.02
