Sean Allen explains the delegate protocol communication pattern in Swift and how to implement it in iOS applications.

The next topic in my series on iOS Interview questions explains the Delegate Protocol Communication Pattern in Swift. This is a fundamental question in iOS development and I was asked about it a lot during my interviews. In this tutorial I'll walk you through how the delegate protocol pattern in Swift works, using Xcode. iOS Dev Courses - seanallen.teachable.com/?video=DBWu6TnhLeY This is part of a series of videos about iOS interview questions in Swift. What people say. Recommended as an exceptionally clear explanation of delegates and protocols for iOS developers.

On “sending a value to another ViewController”

Haha yeah you’re going to have to use a protocol and delegate. Well, you don’t have to but it’s such a vital part of programming. I even struggle with it sometimes but if you just sit down and go through a few tutorials and actually learn it, it’ll make problem solving in the future much easier. Here’s a simple YouTube tutorial I found helpful when first learning about delegates : link to this video

On “How does protocols and delegates work?”

I also had difficulty with delegates and protocols. Sean Allen explains it very well here: link to this video

On “Where next? Finished Angela's Udemy course.”

One thing you should do is to make the apps from scratch without looking at any of the tutorials. IIRC, Angela does some chat or group todo list app. See if you can make that from scratch without looking at any other code or any lookups on Google. I'll give you a small example: Sean Allen does these short videos [video What you can do is break this down to a step by step of exactly what to do. As if you were explaining it to someone that never programmed before... I like to make notes where I have the topic, a quick summary and a step by step of everything needed so that you really can't screw things up. You do this with all the sub parts of a project, like the protocol stuff link…
