cppnow.org linkedin.com/company/cppnow --- What is Low Latency C++? (Part 1) - Timur Doumler - CppNow 2023 Slides: github.com/boostcon --- It is often said that C++ is a great language for low latency systems, such as finance, audio processing, and video games. But what exactly do we mean by "low latency"? How is that different from "high performance"? And what makes C++ a great language for that? This talk is an attempt at answering these questions. We will look at low latency use cases across these different industries, establish their commonalities and differences, and discuss typical challenges in low latency systems and C++ techniques to overcome them. --- Timur Doumler Timur Doumler is the Developer Advocate for C++ tools at JetBrains and co-host of CppCast. He is an active member of the ISO C++ standard committee, where he is currently co-chair of the Contracts study group. As a developer, he worked many years in the audio and music technology industry and co-founded the music tech startup Cradle. Timur is passionate about clean code, good tools, low latency, and the evolution of the C++ language. --- think-cell develops one of the world’s leading PowerPoint applications, with C++ at the core of everything we build, from layout algorithms to deep integration with Microsoft Office.
