Edsger W. Dijkstra demonstrates how to reason about program correctness and prove mathematical existence theorems through programming.
This is part of the University Video Communications - Distinguished Lecture Series on Computer Science and Programming.. Dr Dijkstra in this lecture solves two problems using programing. The two problems are: 1- General structure about correctness argument about programs. 2- Mathematical Existance theorem has to be proven - that is certain result exist. (starts at 28 min 33 sec) This lecture goes under the title: "Reasoning About Programs which was recorded in 1990 and sponsored by Sun Microsystems. For those who do not know - Dr Dijkstra he is a pioneer in Computer Science and Programming field. He is one of the most influential members of computing science's founding generation, who helped shape the new discipline from both an engineering and a theoretical perspective. This is of two vidoe tapes I had laying in my library for many years - since 1994 - and recently decided to digitize and upload and share.u/_--__in r/compsci • Recommends
