Tom Scott and Matt Gray share the behind-the-scenes story of Emojli, an emoji-only messenger app, and the lessons learned from its unexpected launch.

emoj.li - Emojli, our emoji-only messenger, has launched! Today at Electromagnetic Field, the UK hacker camp, Matt Gray and I gave a talk about how it was made, why it was made, and why we never want to build anything like it again. What people say. Recommended as an entertaining and educational post-mortem of a joke side project that grew out of hand.

On “Why emojis are failing to evolve into a form of language”

Tom Scott talked about this when he and Matt Grey made Emojli, the Emoji-only messenger. You can find their talk about it at link to this video However, given that HN is startup central, note that if you are involved in startups and easily offended, you might want to give this video a miss.
