Mitch Davis explains STM32 registers and the Hardware Abstraction Layer using a basic LED blink example.

This was really hard to make. I tried my best to take something overwhelming and make it simple, but it STILL took a 30 minute video to do it. Before jumping into the blink example, I cover Registers and the HAL (Hardware abstraction library). This should make the configuration program more understandable.

What people say. Recommended as a great introduction to STM32 for drawing parallels between ST's HAL and the Arduino language.

On “Where do I start???”

Since you have experience with Arduino, I recommend you watch this video by Mitch Davis to draw parallels between ST's HAL and the Arduino language. You'll be pleasantly surprised by how you've already been using abstraction layers to program microcontrollers without your knowledge. From here you have many options: 1. Program the registers directly: Grab the Reference Manual and find out which registers you need to program (eg MODER, ODR, IDR for GPIO, ARR, PSC, CNT, CCR for Timers and so on.) I suggest this book by Dr. Yifeng Zhu. I directly started with the lesson on GPIO and skipped the 1st few lessons on the book on Assembly language. Revise pointers and bitwise operations in C. 2.…

You're welcome. Btw I saw this in Youtube: STM32 Guide #2: Registers + HAL (Blink example). The video explained how to get started to use STM32 Blue Pill really well. Hopefully, it's a good addition to your embedded learning.

STM32 BluePill not verified ? Hi everyone, Update: I was able to upload the .bin file of the program to the board via STM32CubeProgrammer but when I return to the IDE, set the BOOT0 to HIGH (or 1) and press the RESET button, the LED just keeps on blinking, is there any way to resolve this and put my board into program mode again? I'm a newbie here and after reading what this subreddit is all about, I feel amazed and overwhelmed at the same time. There's so much amazing work happing here and I wonder if I can ever reach what others have been doing and developing here for years. I'll try my best to be as informative and as straight to the point as possible so I don't deter anyone's patience…
