How to use Clojure, Calva, and the Membrane UI library for interactive REPL-driven development.
A demo of interactive programming, composing an image for Twitter/X sharing images that show the article information that nowadays is missing from the feeds. I also create the thumbnail used for this video. The project used for the video: github.com/PEZ/x-meta-image (Includes the code for creating the Youtube thumbnail.) The main tools used are Clojure and the UI library Membrane. No Clojure knowledge required. I demo how to use Calva to start the REPL and connect VS Code. The tools used, the demo/playground project The problem statement for the app being built Usage information Opening the project Starting the REPL Opening the main file compose.clj Loading/Evaluating the file: Ctrl+Alt/Option+C Enter Introducing the Playground (the Rich comment form) Evaluating top level forms (named functions, namespace variables): Alt+Enter Evaluating any form/expression: Ctrl+Enter Evaluating top level Rich Comment forms (also Alt+Enter) Introducing the main thread expression (a pipeline of sorts) producing the image Evaluating the pipeline in steps Looking at the functions, saying hello to Membrane Controlling the JPEG compression level Going full monty on Interactivity with a Membrane dev app Inspecting the running application using ”inline def” Deciding to create the Youtube thumbnail with the code Adding the Clojure logo to the thumbnail Showing a non-recommended way to export the contents of the app so that VS Code can show it Wrapping up, summarizing Interactive Programming Asking you to Like & Subscribe! ♥️ github.com/phronmophobic/membrane github.com/babashka/fs X/Twitter post with the problem statement leading me to create these overlayed sharing images.: twitter.com/levie/status/1709966906403533013 Calva is an easy to use Clojure and ClojureScript IDE for Visual Studio Code. calva.io/ github.com/BetterThanTomorrow/calva marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=betterthantomorr…Why it's here

…thing. Stuff like scripting with babashka. Personally I like to prototype stuff in my job in clojure before writing them out in Java. Like, on the level of individual functions in a scratch REPL in Cursive, no interop. Just playing around and trying things out.
I presume you have absorbed some amount clojure content. Still I recommend parts of link to this video if you haven't seen that (note that's from like 2009). It's also interesting to watch someone tackle problems in the language. Like this: link to this video Back in December when I was doing some AoC, I also enjoyed this VOD: link to this video…
