Theo Browne discusses the misconceptions around contributing to open source to get a job and how to actually grow as a developer.

I can't believe that this is still a problem. This is not how you contribute to open source, not how you get a job, and man we have so much to talk about... Thank you Sevalla for sponsoring! On “Open source contribution”

As a side note: See Theo's latest video basically saying that you don't become a good developer by contributing to open source. It's the other way around: A good developer will probably start to contribute to open source. Don't feel obligated to collaborate on any projects or even on Flutter. Do your own thing, become good at it, build up your confidence, and then, if you have the time, you can help others too.
