Tanner Linsley explains how custom React hooks can be used to build sophisticated memoization pipelines and clean UI abstractions.

Custom Hooks in React are useful for much more than just managing the local state and one-dimensional side-effects you see in almost every React Hooks example. They can be used to build sophisticated memoization pipelines and chained-effects that automatically manage local and network resources. But most importantly, they provide a new new layer of abstraction to accomplish new and amazing patterns that we couldn't have just over a year ago. On the surface, this abstraction layer is simply collection of custom hooks, but when unlocked, it can be the most powerful piece of your application architecture. What people say. Highly recommended for understanding the difference between custom hooks and normal functions in React.

On “react custom hooks vs normal functions, what is the difference”

…o I believe hooks are a really good thing to manage the logic of the components in a isolated way. So, you could have a foo.component.js (UI), a useFoo.js(logic), where useFoo will contain maybe many js functions and one hook to manage that functions and return what it's supposed. This is an amazing video about react hooks, fully recommended link to this video…
