Jared Davidson teaches how to build a simple Pong game using Swift and SpriteKit in Xcode.

Today we make one of the first games ever made: Pong. It's a great project especially for beginners or those just getting started with SpriteKit. Enjoy! On “I just launched my first app, Giga-Ball, written entirely in Swift using SpriteKit”

I started with a video series by Archetapp on YouTube where he created a simple Pong game using SpriteKit and took it from there. I’ve written a blog post here about all the resources and tools I used during the learning and development.

On “Swift novice here. I'm looking to sharpen my swift skills with a simple game prototype and I'm trying to get an idea how to execute a mechanic.”

You can always do this the pro way: here's a github search on SpriteKit and swift. ;) Also, there are YouTube tutorials (free) on spritekit. I like Jared Davidson, though I haven't watched this video. I first saw his AR Portal video. Ray Wenderlich got known for writing SpriteKit tutorials. So there are quite a few that are free, but you'd have to update some of them for Swift 4.2. You may also find state machines helpful for keeping track of what state some object is in.
