What people say. Recommended as an insightful talk on solving Rust's function coloring and synchronicity issues using an effect system.

On “Can Rust be generic over synchronicity?”

Yoshua Wuyts' talk from 2023 (and the associated blog article) has a bunch of examples. In addition to mutability and constness there's also non-divergence (function provably terminates) and non-panic for example, as well as try (fallibility), a generator effect and a few more very interesting ones. I think this could really tackle some of the issues that have cropped up and been lamented over time and probably simplify the language as a whole at the cost of having a more complex type system.

On “The notion of async being useless”

Have you watched this recently published talk about adding an effect system to Rust (which apparently is actually planned and going quite well)? It seems like like a way nicer solution to me than the "monad hell" of other languages.
