What people say. Engineers recommend this series for learning how microcontrollers work under the hood and transitioning from Arduino to bare-metal programming.

On “Peripheral drivers - where to start?”

…more of a reference document. For example, if you have an acceleromter that communicates over SPI, then maybe look through the datasheet to see if you can find a list of commands. That will often be a good starting point to find out everything else. If you're trying to work outside the arduino IDE, you should take a look at this video series: [video…

On “Book suggestion for learning what an IDE does behind the scenes”

Take a look at this video series. It shows what happens behind the scenes for Arduino and how AVR microcontrollers are programmed from scratch. The fundamentals are pretty similar between all microcontrollers, so the same concepts will be applicable to almost anything.

On “Where to go after Arduino?”

If you’re going from Arduino to other microcontrollers, take a peek at this video series. it breaks down the Arduino environment into the bare bones commands and hardware. After you’re comfortable with that, it’s pretty easy to pick up just about any microcontroller. I’m a big fan of the STM8 and STM32 lines

On “Is it worth to learn how to program AVR microcontroller in c? Without arduino, i mean...”

Take a peek at this video. It shows how to do exactly what you’re asking. link to this video There’s pros and cons to programming without the Arduino ecosystem. The main pro is that you shed off some of the excess weight of things like bootloaders and library calls. DigitalWrite is infamously slow because it has to do a lookup to identify the pin, then turn it on or off. HOWEVER, if that performance boost doesn’t matter to you, and you’re not writing programs that are pushing the size limits of the chip, then it might be beat to stick with Arduino. The Arduino community is very active, and many people understand the library calls and system calls. It is written to be easily readable. When I mak…

On “Jump up to embedded programming from Arduino”

Check put this video: link to this video This is a 9-video series that breaks down Arduino to the bare-metal microcontroller implementation. Watch video #9, and if that’s what you’re going for, you can learn how to do it starting at video #1
