On “Best way to start learning Rust?”

…y some "crazy" stuffs are not crazy and work the way they work. To learn about the 'how' to do things with Rust, for me the 'Easy Rust' book was better, directly to the point, easier to follow has more chapters divisions so it's easy to search for something. For a video series about 'The Book' the "Let's Get Rusty" youtube channel is awesome -> [video I went only until chapter 13 of The Book, then I started doing some Rustlings, Codewars exercises and small projects. Doing the hands-on stuff I realized how much I forgot from The Book then I went with 'Easy Rust' to remember some concepts and learn new things.…

On “Simple logical organized source of learning rust? Any ?”

Rustlings is what I am doing at the moment. The Rust track on Exercism is what I will probably do next. Don't overlook YouTube as a resource. There are several series of people going through the book, rustlings, exercism, advent of code, and projects you can learn from. If plan language without a lot of unexplained jargon would help Easy Rust on YouTube again is a nice series of short videos. Besure to not just search Rust on Youtube or you will get nothing but the game. Try Rust Rustlings, Easy Rust, Rust tutorial etc. I liked listening to some of the 1-2 hour tutorials a few times and it helped me. Lets Get Rusty (the book) Easy Rust (plan language) [Rust Exorcism, Tom also doe…

On “I have to admit. The free code camp course is a bit more sparing than I would have preferred. How did everyone learn Rust?”

I'll recommend - Lets Get Rusty on YouTube. link to this video He goes over the book, so if you are reading the book it is good to get some personal explanations of some of the harder concepts.

On “I a few questions about rust”

\## Books \- \The Rust Programming Language, 2nd Edition\, aka “The Book,” \*\*highly recommend\*\*. I learn best by doing. The initial curve in Rust was the exception to that rule. You need to know what’s going on, at some level, before you can start exercising with it. \- \Programming Rust 2nd Edition\ is fantastic. I kind of regret not reading it first. \- \Zero to Production\ would be another great purchase as it is probably the most to-the-point, "let's get rolling" of the books listed here. Although I suggest swapping in \axum\ for the web server if you follow along with the book. \- \Rust for Rustaceans\ is an awesome book, written by Jon Gjengset who does the Crust of Rust…

On “Would rust be worth it for me?”

I think so. I think learning any low level language will improve your skill set long term. Rust has a lot to offer but the learning curve is steep. It’ll take months to feel like you get it but you’ll still be battling the borrow checker for a while. Once you get a hang of that, futures will throw a wrench in and youll be back to bickering with the bc. Then it’ll seem as easy as typescript. getting to that point is a journey though. Will your code be more verbose? Absolutely. Will it be more sound? Also yes. Any performance improvements (which there should be in spades) are just a bonus. ## Books - I highly recommend reading The Rust Programming Language, 2nd Edition, aka “The Book,” be…

On “Hey Rustaceans! Got an easy question? Ask here (6/2022)!”

I have a couple of suggestions 1) I'd say start with something like JavaScript or Python. Rust is a very full on, large language with a lot of stuff that throws even experienced programmers for a bit of a spin when they first come to it. 2) Programming is something you have to do and actually practice to truly understand, so whatever path you end up going down make sure you work through examples and puzzles yourself. I would suggest giving https://projecteuler.net/ a try 3) If you're still hellbent on Rust, I found Let's Get Rusty on YouTube to have a very approachable style, even if he does rip on go gophers like myself a lot link to this video
