On “Am I crazy for hating Razor Pages?”

The one he's stating coming on .net8 Blazor allows it to do what to Razor pages can do. It doesn't download any wasm files or any javascript at all as it's a purely server rendered model. The nice thing about it is you can add islands of interactivity as needed instead of an all or nothing approach, so you don't have to download the runtime when it's not needed. There's also the auto mode where it starts interactive components using Blazor server initially, so it renders fast, then download the wasm runtime in the background so subsequent page visits on that page uses the wasm if it's available moving forward. From the user's perspective it feels pretty snappy. The demo video from Dan R…

ASP.NET MVC and Razor Pages are two similar frameworks for developing server-based web applications. In a server-based framework, all the processing (calls to a database, processing user input, business logic) happens on the web server and HTML is sent back to the user's web browser. I've read in the past that Razor Pages were what Microsoft's ASP.NET team recommended over MVC, but I think that could change with the latest release of Blazor in .NET 8. With server-based frame…
