Holly Mesrobian and Marc Brooker explain the internal architecture of AWS Lambda, focusing on sandboxing, isolation, and scaling.

Serverless computing allows you to build and run applications and services without thinking about servers. Serverless applications don't require you to provision, scale, and manage any servers. However, under the hood, there is a sophisticated architecture that takes care of all the undifferentiated heavy lifting for the developer. Join Holly Mesrobian, Director of Engineering, and Marc Brooker, Senior Principal of Engineering, to learn how AWS architected one of the fastest-growing AWS services. In this session, we show you how Lambda takes care of everything required to run and scale your code with high availability

On “Exploiting the Math.expm1 typing bug in V8”

I believe AWS does share customer information within a device, but with a lot of sandboxing below that. You can watch this talk to learn more: link to this video I think the threat model is basically that you'd need a KVM kernel 0-day + the ability to exploit it, so a point of privilege such as outside of the firecracker sandbox.

…ears before containers became the hotness. * Docker, which brought containers to the masses launched in 2013. * EC2 launched in 2006 (7 years before Docker). * Apollo (and the build system Brazil) predated EC2 by many years. * Amazon.com was migrating to EC2/AWS before 2012 ( link ) * Another example, Lambda, which launched in 2014 runs on EC2 ( link to this video ). * New services get to build in AWS and use Lambda, ECS, DynamoDB etc based on their business needs.…
