A demonstration of the Software Automatic Mouth speech synthesis program running on a Commodore 64.

Software Automatic Mouth, or SAM, was a speech synthesis program for the Commodore 64 computer. SAM, released in 1982, was the first commercial all software voice synthesis program. In this video I load and run the SAM demo on a Commodore 64 computer system equipped with JiffyDOS.

What people say. Recommended as an example of early, highly space-efficient software-based speech synthesis.

Something like this? Jump to 2.30 Chose this one since it's very old (35 years or so) so it fits on a floppy with room to spare for the text and due to the type of synthesis it allows to modify the voice without the need of voicebanks (which would take up space)
