Saeed Langarudi introduces a minimalist workflow for writing large academic manuscripts using Emacs, Zotero, and Gnuplot.
This is a minimalist introduction to how to use Emacs, Zotero, and Gnuplot for writing large academic manuscripts such as thesis, model documentation, and technical reports. Please note that I have not explained all the details of the things I present here. For instance, I do not explain what codes you can use for writing a specific equation. For that, you can consult with an online LaTex equation editor. Or, I did not explain how to create more sophisticated table. For that, you can consult with Emacs' tutorials on tables. Alternatively, you can ask your questions in the comment section, and I will do my best to address them as quickly as possible. There are also other things that I did not explain and you may not find a quick answer for them on the internet. That includes, how to navigate in Emacs (with a special focus on academic writing), how to collaborate, how to use a journal template, how to customize Emacs, etc. If there is enough interest in such topics, I will create another video to cover them. So, please let me know by commenting on the video. You could also use Emacs for other research-related purposes such as note-taking and presentation. You can see an example presentation that I made using Emacs here: shorturl.at/fnZ03 If you are interested in a tutorial on this, let me know! :) If you need the materials I created and used in this video, please send me an email at saeed.langarudi@uib.noWhat people say. Recommended as a helpful guide for academics looking to set up an Emacs-based writing workflow.
