Paul Hudson explains the evolution of iOS layout and demonstrates how to use UIStackView to simplify grid-like layouts.

In this tutorial video I talk about the evolution of layout on iOS, from autoresizing masks to Auto Layout and SIze Classes, and introduce the new tool in town: UIStackView in iOS 9. I explain how UIStackView works, how to work with it, what not to do, and provide sample Swift code to get you started. OAStackView, an open source port of UIStackView back to iOS 7, also gets a worthy mention at the end. For more information, please see hackingwithswift.com/ios9-tutorials where you can find my full range of free tutorials for iOS 9 and Swift 2, including several tutorials on UIStackView. This presentation was originally delivered to the South-West Mobile Group meet up on June 30th 2015.

Try this video tutorial by Paul Hudson. It will show you the basics. Stack view is definitely worth knowing since it hugely simplifies creating grid like layouts. The only downside is that it is available for iOS9 upwards which means you won't be using it in production much since you probably still want to support iOS 8. But I am looking forward to the time when we can drop the support for iOS 8 and leave a happy life with stack view :)
