Mitchell Hashimoto demonstrates his AI-assisted coding workflow and discusses the current capabilities and limits of agentic engineering.

Mitchell takes us through his AI workflow and we dive into a recent commit of his: github.com/ghostty-org/ghostty/commit/3de3f48faf830fe1326f44…. We cover his approach to agentic engineering, his setup and some of the limitations he still sees with AI.

On “Any Success using AI to debug your codes?”

For anyone else that lands here, as of this comment, there are a few interesting examples of professional-respect-worthy devs seriously exploring how to use this stuff productively: \- Armin Ronacher goes into a bunch \- Mitchell Hashimoto Zed interview about using agents with zig (probably even worse support than rust) is also quite interesting For my part: my early forays were that (claude 4 sonnet in thinking mode & similar gen models) made things almost always worse. To the point of dangerously modding my tests to call into the parent shell and have it run an app and make destructive filesystem changes instead of using the TempDir system I'd set up for tests. (gotta lol) But…
