A step-by-step tutorial on building the classic game Snake using Scala, Scala.js, and the Indigo game engine.

In this tutorial, we'll build a version of the classic game 'Snake!', from scratch. Snake is an excellent "Hello, world!" project to help you learn any game engine, but here we'll be using our very own Indigo. Indigo is a Scala 3 / Scala.js code-only game engine aimed at people interested in functional programming. If you'd like to follow along, please take a look at our Giter8 template to get set up with a blank project: github.com/PurpleKingdomGames/indigo.g8 If you'd like to explore the final project, there is a supporting Github repo, here: github.com/PurpleKingdomGames/snake-tutorial Other useful links: Indigo's website: indigoengine.io/ Indigo on Github: github.com/PurpleKingdomGames/indigo Discord: discord.gg/b5CD47g Sponsor our work: github.com/sponsors/PurpleKingdomGames Chapters: Let's build Snake! Both are excellent resources. And Dave, the author of Indigo, is a super friendly guy! He did a good little hello-world for Indigo here: link to this video

…ites. It's very small and therefore fairly accessible in terms of understanding how it works: https://indigoengine.io/demos/snake-in-5-minutes/ I did also make a video tutorial, once upon a time. It was my first attempt at making something like that and it will no doubt be showing it's age now, but it might give you a sense of what's going on: [video Hope that helps!…
