An explanation of the four key DORA metrics used to measure engineering team productivity and software delivery performance.

DORA metrics, also known as Accelerate metrics, are universally lauded as good metrics for tracking Engineering team productivity and software delivery performance. Learn the whats and whys of the four DORA metrics: Deployment Frequency, Change Lead Time, Change Failure Rate and Mean Time to Recovery, and how to use them the right way. On “What are your green flags / traits in an ideal team?”

Came here to write this. No matter if the people in the team are ideal or not, at least they will perform better by doing CI/CD: spend more of their time on features, produce less bugs, get less burned out, etc. Read more by googling for DORA. Here’s a summary about DORA metrics: link to this video

On “Is unit testing is the only solution?”

Unit testing and CI is key. But keep in mind that bugs will happen anyway. When it happens, you need to have ways of quickly diagnosing issues (logging systems, dashboards, etc). Then you need a fast pipeline to recover from an incident. The faster you can deploy a quick fix, the less time the bug will affect users.
