An introduction to the common pitfalls of embedded development in C and how Rust addresses them.

Writing production-grade firmware is hard, but maybe we're making it harder than it needs to be. Join me in exploring some of the common pitfalls of embedded software development in C, and how Rust appears to be well-positioned to address these issues. Oh, and welcome to the channel! 👋 Resources: @letsgetrusty | youtu.be/usJDUSrcwqI @NoBoilerplate | youtu.be/br3GIIQeefY "The Book" | doc.rust-lang.org/book/index.html Chapters: Intro The Module Squad Mr. Microcontroller's Wild Ride C Change for Embedded Development What's the catch? What people say. Recommended as an exceptional introduction to learning Rust in an embedded context.

On “From Zero to Async in Embedded Rust”

This is a youtube series that started up a few months ago, which in my opinion is exceptional at teaching rust in an embedded context. - link to this video - link to this video - link to this video - link to this video I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the presenter works in education or does such presentations for a living, because it's genuinely very well put together. This specific one goes over how async looks in an embedded context. Huge fan, and goes into proper depth of how things actually work, instead of solely a very high level overview.

On “Rust in Production on Embedded?”

There is a new high quality YouTube channel dedicated to rust on embedded in production, you should check it out: link to this video

On “What new or underrated techniques and tools are you currently exploring in embedded software development?”

I've been enjoying The Rusty Bits' "Rust on a microcontroller" series. There are only four videos so far, but he's still gotten pretty deep into it. Especially in the most recent video, on async. Here's the first video in the series: link to this video
