This session from .NET Conf 2023 demonstrates how to build full-stack web applications using Blazor's new server-side rendering and interactive modes.

In .NET 8 you can deliver the best web app experiences entirely in Blazor using Blazor's convenient component model. You can build your entire web app in Blazor without the needed for writing JavaScript or mixing web frameworks. In this session you'll see how you can use Blazor's new server-side rendering support to power your web apps from the server for maximum performance and scalability. You'll see how you can easily add advanced capabilities like streaming rendering and enhanced navigation & form handling to further optimize the user experience. Then add rich client-side interactivity wherever it is needed using Blazor Server or Blazor WebAssembly. On “How do Blazor and ASP.NET fit together? I get the feeling it's not quite as simple as ASP.NET == backend and Blazor == frontend?”

…o -- where on first page visits the page will use Interactive Server mode. It will download the Web Assembly stuff in background, then next time it will utilize the quick Web Assembly version. You can now start a project with Blazor and then add these things as you find you need them. Either on a page or even per component. Check out this video [video This should explain the "new" way going forward on how to think about Blazor. I think one thing that Blazor gives us, is being able to think and build in components. If you're used to building things in a JavaScript framework this isn't foreign at all. With this unified model, there's no decision of having to use one thing (MVC, Razor Pa…

On “Blazor or MVC? What to consider?”

As others have mentioned, .NET brings many new features to Blazor... most notably, Blazor SSR. In case you're not up to speed on what that means here is a good overview video: [video Apologies if you already know this and this is why you're asking the question. Sometimes (often times?!) MS and .NET has trouble with naming stuff (don't we all) and it can be confusing. Also, as u/Two_Thirty_Seven said... one of the benefits of Blazor is the component first mentality. I would start the project with Blazor SSR first instead of MVC. You can get a long way with Blazor SSR, streaming data, enhanced forms, and enhanced navigation. If you need more interactivity you could consider adding JavaS…

On “Regarding Blazor Web App + ASP.NET Core Web API”

I’m very new to this as well, this video from .NET Conf really helped me link to this video The video explains well the new features, and the part where they show identity and EntityFramework Crud scaffold starts at around 42:30

On “Blazor or MVC? What to consider?”

> overview video: [video Thanks! Watching this now. SSR starts at 4:00. Ed: Must say, the presentation is a little disingenuous, saying repeatedly how "you could never do this before with traditional HTML". e.g. at 10:08, clicking menu items and loading content without reloading the whole page. Sure, technically just with HTML and no JavaScript that's true, but just a few lines of vanilla JS (no framework required) can achieve that perfectly well. Same with SSR "stream rendering" - good lord that's been available since .NET 1 by turning off **response buffering**, then the HTML is sent to the browser as soon as it's written. This is nothing new at all. Again at 16:50, states that ret…

On “I've created an alternative to Blazor, here is why”

In .NET 8, blazor introduced the static render mode, but it's quite limited. You can see that on this video (5:48): link to this video Blazor wasm hangs often when you need to do something that you would usually delegate to another thread in .NET, so for example fetching data from the server. JavaScript also operates on 1 thread, but it has quite sophisticated mechanism of pretending that you are doing thins asynchronously, and this prevents the UI from hanging.
