A side-by-side comparison of an application built in three weeks using HTML5 versus Qt on embedded hardware.

One man, three weeks to create an application using HTML5 and three weeks using Qt. The result speaks for itself. And no, we didn't pay them to say this. Glad we met you at Embedded World, Sequality! What people say. Engineers point to this comparison to show the performance and development advantages of Qt/QML over web technologies on embedded devices.

> We need, and will use web technologies to create crossplatform apps until a new solution comes to town. Those "new" solutions exist, and have been existing for a long time now. I strongly encourage the author to step out of his web development comfort zone and take a look at QtQuick/QML. Here's a comparison of QtQuick vs. Angular rendering a pretty complex UI on the Raspberry Pi. One could argue that it might be a little bit biased being posted on the official Qt youtube channel, but the guys at the company presenting this at least appear that they're trying to do a somewhat honest comparison.

> The latter normally requires more time, money and maintenance if you really want to do it properly. Except evidence tends to show it is not always the case. There was an example where a guy developed the exact same app in QML vs HTML5 in the exact same time frame, but the QML app worked better: link to this video ; also, you get to directly design the UI of your app through a GUI and don't need as much integration work.
