David Brailsford explains how the LZ compression technique implicitly calculates probabilities for a document.

The LZ Compression technique implicitly works out its own probabilities for a given document. Professor Brailsford explains. What people say. Recommended as a fascinating deep dive into the probabilistic nature of text compression.

On “CS version of Neil Degrasse Tyson”

After stumbling upon a computerphile series where Professor David Brailsford is interviewed, I have to disagree. The consecutive talks about compression, entropy in compression, error correction, compression in text, and compression meets probability talk about a lot of fascinating complex topics. It at least entertained me the past half hour.
