On “Fastest way to learn C for a person who's an absolute beginner at programming”

leetcode is the worst possible way to learn C for scientific computing. You don't really need to learn much C for engineering, you need to learn enough to be able to write 'numerical recipes in C' (this is a textbook you might consider purchasing). You need just enough knowledge of C to realize your engineering ideas. A quick primer on CS in C, something like [video will help.
