Mehdi Amini, Nicolas Vasilache, and Alex Zinenko walk through implementing a custom DSL and lowering it using MLIR.

llvm.org/devmtg/2019-04/ — Tutorial: Building a Compiler with MLIR - Amini Mehdi (Google), Nicolas Vasilache (Google), Alex Zinenko (Google) Slides: llvm.org/devmtg/2019-04/slides/Tutorial-AminiVasilacheZinenk… — This tutorial will complement the technical talk about MLIR. We will implement a custom DSL for numerical processing and walk the audience step-by-step through the use of MLIR to support the lowering and the optimization of such DSL, and target LLVM for lower level optimizations and code generation or JIT execution. — Videos Filmed & Edited by Bash Films: BashFilms.com

What people say. Recommended as a practical tutorial for building compilers and DSLs using MLIR.

Compiler person here. You may already know about this, but it’s probably worth mentioning LLVM.org. They have a fantastic tutorial for building a language using their toolchain. There are lots of really interesting innovations happening in the world of compilers. For example MLIR link to this video Edit: Since I’m getting quite a few PMs about which compiler/runtime I’m working on: this one for game dev and this one for app dev. With regards to getting started. - This book is fantastic for getting better with C. - This is the LLVM Tutorial I mentioned earlier. - Study C to see the power of a computer without the constraints of a language. Study Lisp to see the power of a language without the c…
