Anders Hejlsberg demonstrates new TypeScript features including conditional types, stricter checks, and explains how TypeScript models JavaScript's runtime type system.

TypeScript has introduced groundbreaking innovations over the last year to truly describe the expressivity of JavaScript in its type system. Between conditional types, new stricter checks, general tooling, and some experimental work in cross-project management, we'll look at the sort of innovative new features that TypeScript brings to make building complex JavaScript apps a breeze.

What people say. Recommended for its deep dive into TypeScript's type system and how it maps to JavaScript's runtime behavior.

On “A conversation with language creators - Guido van Rossum, James Gosling, Larry Wall and Anders Hejlsberg”

I saw Anders talk on typescript at last year's build conference. I have no interest in typescript. I just wanted to see him talk because. .it's Anders Hejlsberg. Was not disappointed. The guy geeked out for like 45 minutes on type systems and how fitting typescript on top of javascript was bringing up all these ideas that no one had thought about before. It was a great talk. link to this video

On “Are there any online courses that covers TS with JS concepts?”

Since TypeScript is about forcing you to thin about JavaScript’s type system (that is alreqdy there at runtime) at compile time I think learning TypeScript is great way to learn JavaScript. I really like the part of this talk where one of the creators of TypeScript explains it’s typesystem, and therefor also JavaScripts runtime type system. From about 18 minutes in: link to this video
