How to transition from the Arduino API to bare-metal embedded development using the ATmega328P datasheet.

Alternative Title: How I learned to Stop Worrying and Love Bare Metal Embedded Development. This video is the first (hopefully in a series) to help Arduino users transition smoothly into the world of bare metal embedded systems development. These first steps can be done using your UNO (or other) Arduino board, and do NOT require any additional hardware, which is a big plus for beginners. It uses the Arduino IDE, which all Arduino users already have. In this video I go over why the Arduino platform is so popular and also some of its limitations. From there I guide you through the relevant sections of the ATmega328P datasheet to help you create a bare metal version of the Arduino Blink sketch. Finally, I show you a code template to use, leaving you with just a few lines of code to complete this first project. GitHub repo for this series: github.com/CoffeeTronics/BreakingFreeFromArduino

What people say. Recommended as an excellent guide for beginners to transition from Arduino libraries to bare-metal AVR programming.

On “Another "Can I start learning embedded with an Arduino" post”

You can still learn embedded with an Arduino Uno board without the Arduino IDE / API. One of my friends started doing tutorials on this subject which are pretty good - [video

On “Jump up to embedded programming from Arduino”

Someone shared this link in a previous post : link to this video It's a series which teach you how to read a data sheet and use arduino without the libraries, and as a beginner, it's priceless !
