With HotSwap Agent, you can save on the amount of time it takes you to develop your Java, Kotlin, or JVM based application by allowing for on-the-fly class reloading, practically cutting out compilation and restart time from your process. In this video, I will show you how to download, install and set up HotSwap Agent for Java 21 using the JetBrains Runtime JDK and IntelliJ IDEA. HotSwap Agent is amazing, too, because it is a completely free, open-source alternative to a paid, closed source plugin for Java (and the JVM in general) called JRebel, which, unless you're a corporate customer and have hundreds of dollars per year to spare, is basically not an option for you.
