What people say. Linked as an example of Microsoft's self-deprecating advertising campaign for Internet Explorer.

On “Microsoft's DroidRage Twitter campaign goes painfully wrong”

I thought this was "hip" or whatever you want to call it, and pretty clever for a long term hearts-and-minds strategy -- link to this video

Their newest ads are pretty awesome. Surface's dancing ad link , the IE9 dubstep link , the IE10 troll link to this video , and the various Windows 8 international musical ads (the wave after the countdown ad) link link and link are definitely a step way up from previous ad campaigns that Microsoft launched. All in all, the Windows 8 ads are IMO fresh, and definitely leaning more towards the younger adult hip side. And they're pulling it off pretty nicely.

On “Internet Explorer 11: “Don’t call me IE””

That comment reminded me of the Microsoft ad video targeted at web devs. link to this video Interesting and funny video, regardless of if you think anything changed.

On “Ask HN: What would it take for IE not to be hated?”

Direct link to video for others who don't read TechCrunch: link to this video I don't hate IE, but for me to consider start using it, it would need to run on all major platforms and be open ala Chrome and Firefox. Otherwise, I don't see the point.

On “Microsoft hires designer behind "The Next Microsoft", Andrew Kim”

A few days ago, a Microsoft employee who has worked on Windows 7 and 8 said on a Reddit AMA: "There is no doubt that we have catching up to do. We even do funny ads acknowledging how bad we were: link to this video " They still know they're not perfect but they seem to think they're good enough already. I hope one day they learn to do things right.
