Wilkes Joiner introduces Functional Reactive Programming concepts and demonstrates building event-driven applications using Bacon.js and ClojureScript.

Functional reactive programming is an alternative way of writing event-driven programs. Instead of event sources having a single addEventListener method, in an FRP framework they have an collection-like API, supporting map, filter, and other operations for combining and managing event streams. This makes it possible to build the exact event stream you want and avoid callback hell. Wilkes gives an overview of FRP, describing Microsoft's Reactive Extensions and bacon.js. Then he shows some demos using Bacon.js in ClojureScript. At Nashville Talk Day, March 30, 2013. nashvillecode.org/events/2013-march/

Intro to Functional Reactive Programming with Bacon.js and ClojureScript The code is pretty much unreadable in the video, but you can follow along on GitHub: https://github.com/Cicayda/yolk-examples/blob/master/src/yolk_examples/client/autocomplete.cljs https://github.com/Cicayda/yolk-examples/blob/master/src/yolk_examples/client/dragdrop.cljs
