Noah Rubin demonstrates how to install Homebrew natively on Apple Silicon M1 Macs and discusses the tradeoffs compared to Rosetta 2.

In this video, I'll show you how to install Homebrew on an Apple Silicon Mac. Homebrew currently doesn't officially support Apple Silicon, so you either have to install it through Rosetta 2, or install it natively with a few extra steps. I discuss the tradeoffs and then show you how to install Homebrew both ways. If you want to see more Apple Silicon content, let me know in the comments! Check out my new video where I install a bunch of tools on Apple Silicon using Homebrew: youtu.be/b_S3CjGRQis Command to install native Homebrew: /bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL gist.githubusercontent.com/nrubin29/bea5aa83e8dfa91370fe83b6…)" Feel free to audit my script here: gist.github.com/nrubin29/bea5aa83e8dfa91370fe83b62dad6dfa Follow me on Twitter: twitter.com/nrubin29 Sections: Intro - Native vs. Rosetta - Installing Homebrew on Rosetta - Installing Homebrew Natively - Potential PATH Problems - Conclusion -

On “How can I install Homebrew into /opt/?”

I've used the script written by Noah Rubin; /bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://gist.githubusercontent.com/nrubin29/bea5aa83e8dfa91370fe83b62dad6dfa/raw/48f48f7fef21abb308e129a80b3214c2538fc611/homebrew_m1.sh)" worked like a charm! Here is his youtube video on this topic for more info; link to this video Edit: Forgot to mention, this script installs the homebrew into /opt/homebrew
