Gene Schroeder introduces his course on STM32 microcontroller programming, covering prerequisites, tools, and the NUCLEO-F401RE development board.

In this introductory video, I talk about the goals and the content of the course. I also cover prerequisites and the tools and hardware used. Finally, I provide the URLs for the GitHub repos used in the course. NOTE 1: The NUCLEO board has a USB Mini B connector, and you will need a USB cable that connects to it. NOTE 2: STMicrolectronics has made a major change in STM32CubeID 2.0, which will require updates to a number of the videos in this course. At this time, version 1.19 is still available and I would suggest to use it for this course. GitHub repos: github.com/g-schro/mcu-class-1-code github.com/g-schro/mcu-class-1-external-docs Errata: - The bullet I mention around should say GPS and not GSM. - Since this was recorded, I tried using a NUCLEO-L452RE board. I had to fix a bug in the IDE generated code (see community.st.com/s/profile/0053W000001pgpwQAA) and make a number of changes due to the different UART numbers and the UART implementation. The modified code is currently on git branch (see GitHub README for details). Back to the playlist: youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4cGeWgaBTe155QQSQ72DksLIjBn5Jn2Z

On “What STM32 development board do you recommend to buy for a newbie?”

I use the stm32 F401RE, that's the same used in this series of tutorials link to this video

…rs off boards, make wires out of wire ties used to wrap cables in, and use your stove top to de solder stuff off your boards. Then get some shoe boxes from the trash to use as bins for your scavenging efforts to help keep things organized. Or you can get an STM32 (specifically the F401RE board) for like $14 and then watch these youtube tutorials; link to this video You can also get a ESP32 based starter kit which has an ESP32 and a bunch of fun accessories, and is enough to do a ton without buying anything else. You can tinker with the idea of an RTOS, with networking, with libraries, and the community around it is huge. This one for $32 for example would get you going very far very fast. There is al…
