On “Why is this reactive-banana code slow?”

> in my experience, Haskell is unsuited for live synthesis. Low latency requirements are a bit too much for the Haskell runtime. It might be unsuitable for the low-level operations of live synthesis, but it can be used as a higher-level wrapper around more efficient live synthesis primitives. For example, this talk describes the vidid library which the presenter uses to do live music. It uses SuperCollider to do the low-level stuff and leverages Haskell to allow concise higher level abstraction.
