That’s where embedded domain specific languages come to the rescue. Embedded Domain Specific Languages or eDSLs allow us to build a data structure that represents the expressions of the target language. In this talk we’re going to discover the tagless final approach for building DSLs. We will also compare other styles of DSLs like ADTs and Free Monads and have a look at the respective trade-offs. Finally we will build the purely functional DSL for WebGL using Scala.js and create a small, but awesome 3d app in the browser. Luka Jacobowitz Software Engineer, codecentric AG

What people say. Highly recommended as a great, long worked example of applying the tagless final pattern to real-world problems.

On “Thoughts on free monads and tagless final for domain modeling?”

I have done a lot with Free but at this point I'm pretty convinced tagless/MTL style is better. This talk by Luka Jacobowitz is a long worked example and is very good.

On “Any advice on applying Free or Tagless algebras to real world problems?”

I found this presentation on the subject of finally tagless quite interesting link to this video

Here's a great explanation by Oleksandr Manzyuk: https://oleksandrmanzyuk.wordpress.com/2014/06/18/from-object-algebras-to-finally-tagless-interpreters-2/ Also I would recommend this talk by Luka Jacobowitz: [video
