Dan Wood reviews the Vampire 2 FPGA accelerator for the Commodore Amiga 600, demonstrating its performance and compatibility.

The Vampire 2 is an incredibly fast FPGA accelerator for the Commodore Amiga 600, pushing it to speeds and power far beyond what was previously possible. But how good is it, and what can it do? What people say. Recommended as a good introduction to the Vampire FPGA-based accelerator for classic Amiga systems.

On “World of Commodore 2016”

Good to see the Vampire will be making an appearance, though I'm guessing no new announcements about upcoming releases. For anyone out of the loop with Commodore stuff, the Vampire is an FPGA-based accelerator for classic Amigas. This is a decent introductory video: link to this video

I think the Vampire 2 FPGA acceleration card for the Amiga 600 deserves to be mentioned: link to this video It seems a lot of fun and is much cheaper (250 Euros).

On “A New Motherboard for Amiga, the Platform That Refuses to Die”

A1200 boards are over 25 years old. A lot of the boards are damaged because of capacitors leaking, just being old. Many of us that still use the Amigas like using "proper hardware". I like the idea of taking a 25 year old computer and hacking the machine to play DOOM or going on IRC or even checking my emails. FPGAs have been used for Amiga Accelerators the fastest accelerator (at present) is the Apollo Vampire V2. Here is a complete rundown of the accelerator: link to this video
