Stewart Lynch introduces basic CRUD operations in SwiftData and shows how it persists data to a SQLite database.

This is the first video of the first section in a series of videos where I am going to build an app using SwiftData. In this first set of 3 videos, we will be looking at creating an application to track books that you want to read, are reading or have read. This will be the longest video in the series as I will introduce you to all of the basic CRUD operations when creating, reading updating and deleting records and persisting the changes to a SQLite database on your device. If you want to support my work, you can buy me a coffee :) ko-fi.com/stewartlynch Table of Contents: Introduction The Book Model Create Read Delete Update Completed Project: github.com/StewartLynch/MyBooks/tree/1stVideo_CRUD All videos in this section SwiftData: CRUD operations youtu.be/CAr_1kcf2_c SwiftData: Containers and Mock Data youtu.be/tZq4mvqH9Fg SwiftData: Dynamic sorting and filtering Coming November 12 References mentioned in video: DBBrowser sqlitebrowser.org ContentUnavailableView youtu.be/3yWxtjUm0CE SwiftPackageManager youtu.be/o0fQC7JU-Ts Recommended Resources: BigMountain Studio Books SwiftUI Views Mastery bigmountainstudio.com/views-16/77jt8 SwiftUI 5 Book Bundle bigmountainstudio.com/book-bundle/77jt8 Combine Mastery in SwiftUI bigmountainstudio.com/combine/77jt8 Core Data Mastery in SwiftUI bigmountainstudio.com/core-data/77jt8 SwiftUI Animations Mastery bigmountainstudio.com/animations-16/77jt8 AppCoda Books Beginning iOS 16 Programming with Swift (SwiftUI + UIKit) gumroad.com/a/646790611/WihuX Beginning iOS 16 Programming with Swift (SwiftUI + UIKit) - Starter gumroad.com/a/646790611/mOzKq Mastering SwiftUI 4 + Swift Programming for iOS 16 - Professional gumroad.com/a/646790611/gjPBw Mastering SwiftUI 4 - Starter gumroad.com/a/646790611/TyNEz Other References: Stewart Lynch's YouTube Channel: youtube.com/@StewartLynch Stewart Lynch on Mastodon: iosdev.space/@StewartLynch Stewart Lynch On Threads: @StewartLynch Stewart Lynch on X: x.com/StewartLynch Stewart Lynch on LinkedIn linkedin.com/in/stewartlynch

On “Can someone help me with a job application challenge?”

Got it, thanks for the extra context! Knowing what is considered "extra" is pretty helpful. I would agree with following this video posted by another commenter: [video Focus on just completing that first, without any extras. Following that should check all 4 boxes of requirements (register, update, edit, delete). I would focus on only one of the extra items, but definitely ignore the blockchain suggestions. That is HIGHLY specialized. You could ping a basic weather API to show the users current weather. Tie it into the YouTube tutorial focused on books as "Check the weather to see if you can read outside" type thing. It doesn't have to make complete sense as a product, just needs to ha…

On “How can I get good at making data models?”

How would you put your data into a spreadsheet? That’s basically what SwiftData is creating behind the curtain. Stewart Lynch has a pretty good video about SwiftData and the database it creates. Check it out here. The database is around 20:24.
